Toluene is a colorless, volatile liquid with a special aromatic flavor. The molecular formula is C7H8, and it is insoluble in water. Toluene is a member of the aromatic hydrocarbons, many of its properties are very similar to benzene, in today's practical applications often replace quite toxic benzene as an organic solvent, or a commonly used chemical raw materials, can be used to manufacture paint, explosives, pesticides, benzoic acid, dyes, synthetic resins and polyester. It is also one of the components of gasoline.
